Republican State Senator Clark Jolley announced his campaign for Congress in Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District at a press conference in OKC Thursday afternoon.
Jolley will run for the house seat being vacated by U.S. Representative James Lankford. He will get to keep his state Senate seat since he's in the middle of a four-year term.
In his campaign announcement remarks, Jolley said, "I will fight every day with every breath to reign in government, to make it smaller, more efficient and to remind the politicians up in DC that they are spending our money and it's got to stop."
The 43-year-old chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee has twice been re-elected to his Senate seat in the conservative Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond.
Jolley is the latest on the list of GOP contenders that also includes Corporation Commissioner Patrice Douglas, former state Rep. Shane Jett, and former state Sen. and Army veteran Steve Russell.
