Neighbors in a southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood desperately tried to save a man killed from a shotgun blast Monday, according to police.
Emergency crews were right across the street from the scene at a fire station when the call was received at dispatch. Officials say there was nothing anyone could do. Police say children were inside the house when a tragic accident took the life of their grandpa.

"We are really shocked that it happened in our neighborhood," neighbor T.L. Hosur said.
Officers say the man was watching his grandchildren when he decided to move his gun from the house to his car. That's when neighbors heard a blast and rushed to the man's side. The accident has gun experts reminding the public about gun owner safety tips.
"Frankly, if you always treat [the gun] like it's loaded, you're going to be safe with it," said H&H Shooting Sports manager Zeke Ernst.
Ernst says there are three important tips every gun owner should know:
• Always treat the gun like it's loaded
• Keep your finger off of trigger unless you're about to shoot a target
• Never point gun in unsafe direction
Throughout Monday, relatives and friends arrived to comfort the family. Police are still investigating but say nothing seems suspicious. No one else was injured in the shooting.
