Well I have to give the A&E Network some credit. They actually held out longer than I thought they would.
They lasted a whole nine days before reinstating the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty, who they'd suspended for making some rather blunt and controversial statements about homosexuality and African Americans.
A&E, doing their best we're not really selling out routine, released this statement about Phil Robertson:
"After discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family."
Call me cynical, but I'm wondering if one of those advocacy groups was the accounting firm advocating for the Network's bottom line.
They were at first aghast that the staunch Bible believing Robertson would publicly espouse such views, posturing that A&E can't be associated with such backwoods thinking.
But when Duck supporters got riled up, Network executives came up with 100 million reasons to justify reinstating Phil Robertson.
Their hypocrisy nearly cost A&E a fortune.
