A puppy is found abused, bleeding and freezing in a metro neighborhood. Rescuers say it looks like someone tried to cut the animal's ears. Now the puppy is in recovery.
A little 4-week-old pit bull was found abandoned and bloody on Wednesday. Since his rescue, one local group wants to know where he came from in case there are other abused puppies.
Sweet Baby Jones can run and wag his tail now, but a few days ago, that was a different story.
"He was shivering, his ears were bleeding, and he had a lot of dried blood down here," said veterinarian, Dr. Sherrie Hodgson.
A woman found little Jones covered in blood with his ears cropped in her backyard Wednesday morning near I-44 and 23rd St. She took him to Neel Veterinary Hospital where Hodgson said the puppy lost so much blood, she thought he was going to die.

"There was nothing really good about him, except his attitude, which was just amazing for someone that cold," Hodgson said.
Jones is in good hands for now, fostered by The Bella Foundation, SPCA.
"We're still working on getting some of the frozen dried blood off of him without pulling his hair or irritating his face too much," said Tevin Garner with the Bella Foundation.
Jones is taking pain medication daily and will be vaccinated in a couple days. His foster family hopes to get to the bottom of how Jones was abused, so they can help put an end to it.
"We definitely think that he has siblings out there, and we hope that we can find them and get them in a better situation," said Garner.
Jones will be ready for adoption soon. The Bella Foundation asks, if you know where he came from or have seen puppies like Jones in your area, please call: 1-866-318-PETS.
