Marcus Smart is the only unanimous selection to the Associated Press' Preseason All-American Team the AP announced today. The 6-foot-4 point guard is the first unanimous selection since Ohio State's Jared Sullinger in 2011-12. The team is chosen by a 65-member media panel.
Smart averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.0 steals as a freshman last year. He was the Big 12 Player of the Year and won the Wayman Tisdale Award as the nation's top freshman.
Smart is joined on the Preseason All-American team by Doug McDermott (F, Creighton), Russ Smith (G, Louisville), Mitch McGary (C, Michigan) and Andrew Wiggins (F, Kansas).
Oklahoma State tips off the regular season against Mississippi Valley State on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
