Police are searching for the shooter who opened fire on a car, killing one man, injuring a passenger and wounding a man who lived across the street.
Neighbors called police around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday after hearing multiple gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a bullet-riddled vehicle in a field near 19th and D. Inside was 31-year-old Arthur Pekah. He'd been shot in the head. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Pekah's 55-year-old mother was also in the car, but she was not hurt.
Another man, 34-year-old Bradley Portillo, was shot in the face. He managed to get out of the car and run during the shooting, but returned when police and paramedics arrived. He was treated at a hospital and released.
Police say a fourth victim was in his house across the street from the shooting when a stray bullet traveled through his front door and grazed his stomach. He was not seriously injured. His wife and children, who were also in the house, were not hurt.
Police have not made any arrests in the case or identified any suspects. Anyone with information about the shootings should call the Lawton Police Department.
Pekah's death is Lawton's 14th homicide of 2013.
