A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a train in southeast Oklahoma City Saturday afternoon.
According to authorities, at about 12 p.m., emergency crews responded to the report of the accident in the area of S.E. 59th Street and S. Hattie Avenue in Oklahoma City.
Police say the train was northbound, and the conductor saw a man up ahead. He put on the emergency break, but couldn't stop in time, and hit him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim, but did say he may be homeless.
"Below this train, the overpass here, you'll see some transient camps and stuff, so it's a possibility that the gentleman was trying to get back to where he camps out," said Sgt. Billy Payne with Oklahoma City police.
The NTSB will investigate this case.
