Two teenagers are dead after a semi trailer truck lost its rear wheels on Interstate 40 in Caddo County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say the fatality crash took place just before 7 p.m. Friday.
Nathan Putman of Greenfield, Oklahoma was driving a 2013 Freightliner semi westbound on the highway when the vehicle lost it fifth axle duals. The wheels hit the windshield of a Jeep Wrangler filled with teenagers from North Richland Hills, Texas.
Dead are Abigail Key, 15, and Chance Clifton, 17. Both died of massive head injuries, according to a trooper's report.They were pinned in the car for about an hour and a half before being freed by the Hydro Fire Department.
A third teenager, 18-year-old Colby Wade, is in critical condition. He was driving the Jeep.
Another passenger in the Jeep, 17-year-old Caleb Wade, was treated and released for minor injuries. The 32-year-old driver of the semi was not injured.
