A retired general and astronaut received an honorary doctorate during the graduation ceremony at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on Saturday.
Tom Stafford was one of the featured speakers. He talked to students about the struggles of getting through college, and offered some advice for their next phase in life.

"Be persistent. One thing I've found, success is not a sprint. It's a marathon," Stafford said.
Stafford was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma. As an astronaut, he flew aboard two Gemini space flights and was the commander of Apollo 10, the second manned mission to orbit the Moon.
