The No. 1 Oklahoma softball team swept a doubleheader at Wichita State Wednesday, giving head coach Patty Gasso wins No. 900 and 901 as head coach of the Sooners.
In the first game, the Sooners knocked off the Shockers, 7-1, behind a dominant pitching performance from Keilani Ricketts. Ricketts struck out nine batters and retired the last 13 batters she faced. She also helped her own cause, blasting a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
Lauren Chamberlain hit a two-run double as part of a four-run fourth inning, and Callie Parsons had two RBIs.
In the second game, Jessica Vest exploded for two home runs and seven RBIs to lead the Sooners to a 16-1 romp.
Three OU pitchers held the Shockers to just three hits, led by Michelle Gascoigne, who picked up the win, striking out seven batters in the process.
Georgia Casey, Whitney Ellis and Leslie Miller all homered for the Sooners as Oklahoma pounded out 15 hits against the Shockers' pitching staff.
The Sooners are off this weekend before taking on Louisiana-Lafayette in a doubleheader next Wednesday.
