No.1 Oklahoma had no trouble with its first two opponents in the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. on Friday. The Sooners routed Pacific 9-0 in five innings before defeating N.C. State 3-0 in the second game.
Against Pacific, Shelby Pendley and Brittany Williams each hit two-run home runs in the first inning. It was Pendley's eight homer of the season and fifth in the last five games. For Williams, it was her fourth of the year.
Keilani Ricketts got the win, throwing five shutout innings to improve to 12-0. Ricketts gave up just one hit while striking out 10. She added a two-run single in the fourth inning to help her own cause.
In the second game against the Wolfpack, Michelle Gascoigne struck out 15 batters, one off her career high, as she improved to 10-1 on the season. She allowed just three hits and one walk.
Georgia Casey drove in the game's first run with an RBI groundout in the third inning.
In the fourth, Erica Sampson stole third and came home to score on an error by the NC State third baseman. An RBI single by Destinee Martinez later in the fourth brought home the third OU run.
Oklahoma has now shut out four straight opponents, the second time this season they've won four in a row without allowing a run.
