A suspect is dead and an officer injured following a shooting in northwest Oklahoma City on Friday.
Oklahoma City Police say an officer opened fire in the parking lot of the Express Mart in the 6200 block of W. Wilshire.
Police say officers dressed in plain clothes were called to the area to check on a complaint of drug activity. The officers approached a car when they believed the driver to be involved in a drug deal.
The undercover officers identified themselves as police, but the driver tried to run them over. Captain Dexter Nelson said
"A car can be used as a weapon. It is a rather large weapon. Anytime you are standing in front of a car and someone comes toward you, that's dangerous in itself," said OKC Police Capt. Dexter Nelson.
Nelson said the driver hit the officer and that's when the officer shot and killed the suspect.
"I heard four gunshots," said Angel Russell.

Russell lives across the street from the crime scene and described to News 9 what she witnessed.
"When I looked out the window and saw them with guns drawn, that's when I came outside and walked across the street," Russell said.
Russell claims she saw the suspect dead his car.
"My heart dropped and of course my eyes watered. It's sad."
At least eight witnesses were questioned by police at the scene. Police could not say how many shots were fired or if the suspect had a gun.
Police did not immediately release the identity of the suspect until family can be notified, but Orlando Thomas says he knew the suspect.
"He was a good fella," said Thomas.
Thomas described the scene as heartbreaking and said he wished the incident would have ended differently.
Oklahoma City Police Homicide Unit and Internal Affairs are now investigating the incident. The officer involved in the shooting received minor injuries and is now on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.
