An emergency manager in northwestern Oklahoma says one person is dead after heavy snow brought down part of a roof at a Woodward home.
Matt Lehenbauer of the Woodward County Emergency Management office says a house partially collapsed on the city's south side. The area was under a blizzard warning all day Monday and received more than a foot of snow. At times, winds gusted to around 50 mph.
Lehenbauer says other collapses have been reported around the community and that firefighters and emergency medical technicians have been caught out in the weather.
The death at Woodward is the second reported in the winter storm that rolled into the Plains. A motorist at Kansas died in a traffic accident on a slick road.
