Oklahoma City Police are trying to figure out if fog was a factor in the early-morning death of a bicyclist at an intersection in northwest Oklahoma City.
Police say around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, a driver spotted a severely injured bicyclist at N.W. 10th Street and MacArthur. Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, but he died before he arrived.
The man has been identified as 58-year-old Joseph Edward Helmka. Officers say Helmka had severe trauma to his body. They believe he was hit by a vehicle.
The fog created near zero visibility at the time of the accident, and police say it's possible the driver who hit him may not have realized what happened.
Investigators are urging anyone who may know more about this accident to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
