Police are on the hunt for two men after a shooting at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City. The crime put a nearby elementary school on lockdown.

Police are on the hunt for two men after a shooting at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City. The crime put a nearby elementary school on lockdown.

Police say the incident started out as a robbery attempt in the parking lot of Britton Courtyards Apartments at Rockwell and N.W. Britton.

Early Tuesday afternoon, homicide investigators were on the scene. The shooting sent 20-year-old Spencer Davis to the hospital in critical condition, while students at Wiley Post Elementary School were forced to take cover.

"We went in the closet, and some of my classmates were screaming," one student told News 9.

Children were forced to spend the time hiding and frightened due to the senseless violence.

"[Students] were scared … one was crying," the student said.

Residents say shootings are nothing new a Britton Courtyards. Police say the suspects are two black men. Witnesses tell police they saw the men running away from the apartment complex.

As of late Tuesday, Davis was in critical condition at OU Medical Center.
