A young Oklahoma City boy is recovering at a local hospital after being shot at the Sooner Haven apartment complex in northeast Oklahoma City, Saturday night.
The 11-year-old boy is in stable condition. Witnesses who saw the boy say he was shot once in the side. Witnesses also say the boy ran through the front yard and into an apartment unit where a couple helped him.
That couple told News 9 the boy collapsed onto the floor and they put pressure on his wound and called 911. They were grilling out and their own kids were playing in the yard just minutes before the shooting. They say they are afraid to go on camera with us because gangs might retaliate against them.
When officers first arrived they say the boy was alert and gave them some information, but not enough to identify any suspects.
Police say they tried questioning several people around the apartment complex, but say nobody has been willing to share any important information.
Neighbors here say violence in this apartment complex is nothing new. Many fear their kids might get caught in the crossfire during one of these shootings.
Police ask that anyone with information on what happened here Saturday night to step up and contact them.
