A federal judge has rejected an attempt by an Oklahoma inmate to stop his pending execution for the slayings of two people.
U.S. District Judge David Russell on Monday denied inmate George Ochoa's attempt for a stay of execution. Ochoa's attorney has appealed Russell's ruling to the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The 38-year-old Ochoa is scheduled to be executed Tuesday for the 1993 shooting deaths of two people in their Oklahoma City home while three of the couple's young children were present. Ochoa maintains he is innocent.
Ochoa's attorneys also claim their client is insane and that Oklahoma's procedure for determining competency to be executed is unconstitutional. But Russell rejected both of those claims in his order on Monday.
