Oklahoma State cross country coach Dave Smith has been named the Big 12 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. This is the fifth consecutive season the coach has earned the distinction.
The award comes after Smith helped guide the OSU men's cross country team to its fifth-straight Big 12 Championship in Austin, Texas, last weekend.
The Cowboys have claimed the team championship in every meet they have competed in this season and have won two individual titles in those four meets.
In seven years as head coach at OSU, Smith has led the Cowboys to five Big 12 Championship and two national titles, while coaching four individual conference champions and 35 All-Big 12 performers.
The Cowboys will return to action on Friday Nov. 9 when they compete in the Midwest Regional in Springfield, Mo., and they battle for a national title at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky.
