The Putnam City School District announced the air-conditioning system has been repaired at Northridge Elementary School, and students will return to class Wednesday.
The Labor Day holiday weekend lasted a little longer for students because the air conditioning in the building went out. School administrators said temperatures inside the school were above 90 degrees Monday evening, so they canceled classes for Tuesday.
Administrators said it was impossible to move enough air through the building to keep it cool.
Tuesday afternoon, Principal Randy Rader announced the faulty air conditioning had been repaired, and the school would be contacting all parents to let them know classes will be in session Wednesday.
