The Oklahoma State Cowgirls improved to 4-0 on the young season with a 4-1 drubbing of Creighton on Sunday in Stillwater.
The No. 4 Cowgirls actually started things off on the wrong side of the scoreboard, falling behind 1-0 less than two minutes into the game, but OSU responded with four unanswered goals.
The Cowgirls answered and tied the score in the 17th minute. Off a corner kick, freshman Makenzie Kahan flicked a header towards the box, and fellow freshman Madison Mercado was there to send the ball past the goal keeper.
Mercado's goal would be the first of three recorded by the Cowgirls before halftime.
OSU took the lead nearly three minutes later when Kelsey Bass sent a long pass ahead to Megan Marchesano, who outran her defender, then beat the goalie for an open-net opportunity for her 19th-career goal.
The Cowgirls' third goal came on a penalty kick in the 38th minute when Taylor Mathews converted on the opportunity.
A lot of time passed before OSU scored again when Mercado's second goal of the contest came off a Kristen Kelley assist in the 87th minute.
The Cowgirls will hit the road for the first time this season on Friday and Sunday when they face Alabama-Birmingham and Memphis.
