The Oklahoma Sooners women's soccer team improved to 2-1 in the young 2012 season with a 3-1 win over Nicholls State Friday night.
The Sooners jumped out to an early lead in the first half and never allowed the Colonels to gain any momentum in the match.
The Sooners played a well-rounded game, getting nine shots on goal, and only allowing five shots on goal for Nicholls State.
The Sooners struck early, with Renae Cuellar getting her third goal of the season in the 22nd minute to stake OU to a 1-0. 14 minutes later, Kelly Price got on the board for OU with her first goal of the season.
After halftime, the Colonels narrowed the margin to 2-1, on a Spencer Valdespino goal in the 55th minute. However, OU would add some insurance on a second Price goal in the 75th minute that effectively put the game away.
The Sooners are back in action Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., taking on Vanderbilt in Norman.
