The Oklahoma Sooners soccer team opened their 2012 season Friday night with a 2-1 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Senior forward Renae Cuellar scored both goals for the Sooners, while Mayme Conroy scored the Huskers' lone goal.
The Huskers had three more shots, and nearly a 2-to-1 advantage in shots on goal over the Sooners, but OU made each of their shots count.
Nebraska struck first, with Conroy scoring in the 18th minute. Cuellar countered to tie the score at one in the 25th minute with her first goal of the game.
After a yellow card was issued to Hannah Dittmar of Nebraska in the 63rd minute, Cuellar struck again with the go-ahead goal in the 67th minute.
Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Devonshire's eight saves preserved the win for OU.
The Sooners are back in action Monday night in Norman, taking on LSU at 7 p.m.
