Police arrested a man accused of causing a disturbance late Monday night at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.
Police say 45-year-old Charles Cantwell was standing at N.W. 5th Street and Robinson on July 9 when he began throwing bottles at the memorial. Guards say Cantwell was obviously intoxicated. They attempted to arrest him for public drunkenness, but they say he became belligerent and tried to walk away.
One guard says when she tried to place Cantwell's arms behind his back, he swung at her and hit her in the chest. The guard sprayed Cantwell with pepper spray, and was able to subdue and handcuff him.
Cantwell is listed as a transient from Clinton, Oklahoma. He was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer, trespassing on public property, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct.
