A Good Samaritan raced to help a woman when someone tried to steal her purse in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in west Oklahoma City.
The 62-year-old victim was getting into her car at the Wal-Mart on Reno near S. MacArthur Boulevard when a woman grabbed her purse and tried to wrestle it away from her. The suspect knocked the victim to the ground and began kicking her.
Another woman saw what was happening and rushed to help. She fought off the suspect and prevented her from stealing the purse.
The female suspect jumped into the passenger's side of an awaiting car, and the vehicle sped away. Neither the victim nor the witness said they got a good look at the suspect.
Surveillance cameras, however, snapped photos of the suspect's car. Police have released those photos with the hope someone will recognize the car. The suspect vehicle is a white or silver Mercury Grand Marquis. The rear passenger side tire was either missing a hubcap, or it was a spare tire.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
