Automobile Alley went from being a car dealership destination in Oklahoma City to a stretch of road with boarded up buildings.

But the historic district has now gone from shabby to chic. It stretches from 4th Street to 10th Street along Broadway Avenue and in its heyday, Automobile Alley was a hopping business district in downtown Oklahoma City.

But after World War II and the construction of I-235, Broadway Avenue and Automobile Alley were replaced with new roadways and bigger business, changing the district from the go-to car dealership destination to just another downtown street.

Fast-forward to the mid-1990's. The bombing of the Murrah Building in 1995 not only cut 168 lives short, but it also ruined more than 350 buildings downtown, including several along Automobile Alley. But from the tragedy came rejuvenation to downtown and the historic district.

Now Automobile Alley is hustling and bustling with restaurants, shops and local businesses. It's once again making this stretch of downtown, a hot-spot. And another reason for Oklahomans to be downtown proud.
