A few big innings from the Oklahoma City RedHawks were enough to avoid losing three consecutive games, knocking off the Reno Aces 10-9 Sunday to close the four-game series.
Reno Jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a ground ball single from Adam Eaton and a bases-clearing double from A.J. Pollock to take a 4-0 advantage. However, Oklahoma City would respond almost immediately to take the lead.
After a leadoff walk and a fielding error put runners on first and third, Mickey Storey laid down a sacrifice bunt, and a fielding error allowed Brad Snyder to score and cut into the lead. Two batters later, a wild pitch allowed Landon Powell to score to cut the deficit to 4-2.
A sacrifice fly from Jimmy Paredes two batters later allowed Mickey Storey to score and Fernando Martinez followed with a home run to give Oklahoma City a 5-4 lead. Landon Powell belted a two-run home run in the top of the third and Scott Moore hit a solo shot in the top of the fourth to take an 8-5 advantage.
David Carpenter (1-0) was credited with a win for his work Sunday, not allowing a hit and striking out two in his 1.2 innings of service. Charles Brewer received a loss, allowing eight runs on six hits in four innings pitched.
Tulsa will now start a four-game road series against the Colorado Springs Sky, opening the series at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
