LUBBOCK, Texas – The Cowgirls played well on Monday but a few costly mistakes still proved to be the difference in the game.
An unearned run helped lift the Texas Tech Red Raiders over OSU 2-1 on Monday in the second-to-last Big 12 series of the regular season.
Though Kat Espinosa had a great game in the circle, things started off a little bit rough as she hit a batter with a pitch in the bottom of the first.
That runner, Logan Hall, would eventually advance over to third on wild pitch from Espinosa, and a fly ball to right field allowed Hall to score and make it 1-0, Tech.
In the second inning, more mistakes started to pile up for Oklahoma State.
Espinosa walked Emily Cooper, and she eventually stole second and moved on to third when OSU catcher Taylor Woodall's throw sailed into center field.
She came home on a base hit from Raven Richardson making it 2-0.
OSU's only score of the day came in the fifth inning as Chelsa Garcia drove home Shelby Davis, but one run was not going to be enough as the Cowgirls couldn't muster any more offense on the day.
Espinosa still had a solid game overall, giving up just three hits while striking out two.
Oklahoma State fell to 25-22 overall and 8-13 in Big 12 play. OSU will travel to Columbia, Mo. for a three-game series against the Missouri Tigers.
Friday's first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
