A Marine is being discharged from the Corps for criticizing and making derogatory comments on Facebook about President Obama.
I say he should have known better and we can't have Marines undercutting the Commander-in-Chief. Here's what you had to say.
Christopher starts it: "I really want to know what the purpose of first amendment is?"
Michael answers that correctly: "You don't have freedom of speech in the military. They tell you that when you sign up."
Leah points out: "I would get fired for criticizing my boss on Facebook, too."
Debbie says: "I realize the military has to respect the office, but they shouldn't be required to respect the man in it!"
But Gary says: "Simply put, there is a thing called ‘The Chain of Command'. And like it or not, the President of the United States is in that chain."
And Cody writes: "I'm a military member. And while I may not always agree with leadership decisions, I've sworn an oath to obey the orders of those appointed over me."
And Kevin adds: "You basically sign your whole self to the military when you enlist. And his big mouth, well it's part of his body!"
Finally from Pamela: "My Father was a captain in the US Marine Corps in WWII. He taught my brother and me at our dinner table that you always respect the office."
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
