The Oklahoma Sooners capped off their second consecutive series sweep with a 7-0 win over the Alabama State Hornets Sunday, thanks to a strong pitching performance overall.
Drew Krittenbrink (1-0) pitched a solid outing for the Sooners, giving up just three hits and no earned runs in 7.2 innings of service. Kindle Ladd and Dillon Overton didn't allow a run in the final 1.1 innings of the game.
Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a two-run single from Tanner Toal in the second and a Max White solo home run in the bottom of the second to take a 3-0 advantage.
The Sooners added four more runs in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to playing small ball.
Three singles loaded the bases for OU with just one out on the board and Max White added one more single to bring Toal and Erik Ross home to take a five-run lead. Three at-bats later, Evan Mistich singled to right field to bring White home to push it to 6-0 and Mistich stole home to bring the scoring to an end.
Oklahoma will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, followed by a 6:30 p.m. game Wednesday against Dallas Baptist.
