A survivor tree makes it from ground zero to Oklahoma, just in time for the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. The tree will be dedicated at Oklahoma Christian University.

For the last seven years survivors of 9/11 have come to Oklahoma for the anniversary of the bombing, now they are leaving a piece of the New York survivor tree right here next to an offspring of Oklahoma's survivor tree. They say it's a bond that will last forever.

A decade after the twin towers were hit, seventeen years after the Oklahoma City bombing and 25 hours in the car across country. But now the moment has come.

"Our survivor tree is the keeping and following the legend of the Oklahoma survivor tree," Ron Vega said.

What connects them halfway across a nation: common experience.

"I know the pain that the people go through here, even though I don't know what they went through, I know what they went through," said Tom Canavan, a survivor of 9/11.

The offspring of both survivor trees will be planted side by side in the sooner state. The group says they are like a victims support group for people who have survived terrorist attacks.

"The people here are survivors first responders have become my family members," said Charlie K, a 9-11 survivor.

The dedication is open to the public. The ceremony at Oklahoma Christian will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday on the west side of the Beam Library.
