Oklahoma City police say 14 men affiliated with gangs have been arrested in a sweep that targeted gang members facing felony charges.
Sgt. Gary Knight says the 14 were arrested starting at 6 a.m. Thursday. He says 13 were arrested for racketeering and one on a weapons charge.
Knight says the arrests are the result of an investigation that included Oklahoma City and Midwest City police, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Oklahoma County Sheriff's and District Attorney's offices and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
The arrests were made throughout the Oklahoma City metro area, including Guthrie and Midwest City.
These are the names of the arrested individuals: Christopher Alvarado, 26, Edgar Castillo, 25, Rogelio Becerra, 22, Asael Chavarria, 28, Steven Chavarria, 25, Jesus Edwards, 23, Jose Minjarez, 25, Elid Miranda, 21, Juan Olivarez, 39, Jose Perez, 35, Luis Perez, 28, Thomas Ruiz, 32, Guillermo Zuniga, 20, and Lavell Huddleston, 27.
Of the 14 people arrested, all but Huddleston were arrested on racketeering charges. Huddleston was arrested for possession of a firearm. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
