STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Cowgirls were solid all night to force the game into extra innings, but it didn't take long for their fortunes to turn once they got there.
Texas A&M topped the Cowgirls 3-1 in eight innings on Friday night, dropping Oklahoma State to 16-14 overall and 1-4 in Big 12 play.
OSU senior Julie Ward got the Cowgirls on the board with their lone run of the day in the second inning, a home run down the right-field line.
For a while, that was enough to keep OSU in the game as the Aggies' Meagan May responded with a solo homer of her own.
But once the teams reached the eighth inning it began to come crashing down.
Texas A&M managed to load the bases and a two-RBI double finally provided the difference in the game.
Kat Espinosa picked up the loss for the Cowgirls, giving up seven hits in throwing the complete game.
The two teams will meet again at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cowgirl Stadium.
