The Oklahoma Sooners were nothing short of dominant Saturday, shutting out Baylor 5-0, blanking the Bears for the second time in the weekend series.
Oklahoma starter Michelle Gascoigne (11-0) was lights-out in the matchup, pitching a complete-game shutout, giving up just two hits and striking out eight of the 25 batters she faced. Liz Paul (6-4) pitched a complete-game as well, but gave up five earned runs on seven hits.
The Sooners' bats were doing work all day- starting in the opening inning. Pitcher Keilani Ricketts was the designated player Saturday, and produced early with a two-run home run to give Oklahoma a 2-0 advantage.
In the top of the third, Lindsey Chamberlain went yard for the Sooners' as well, OU's second two-run home run of the game, giving them a four-run lead. Erica Sampson finished things off in the top of the sixth with a solo home run, putting Oklahoma on top 5-0.
The Sooners will try to pick up the series sweep over the Bears at 12 p.m. Sunday.
