Oklahoma pitchers Jonathan Gray and Jordan John combined for a complete-game shutout of the New Mexico Sunday, leading the Sooners to a 4-0 win Sunday, closing out the series sweep of the Lobos.
Jonathan Gray (1-2) got the start for Oklahoma, giving up four hits in his five innings of service, getting credit for the win, his first of the season. Jordan John came in to close things out, giving up just one hit and striking out four in his four innings pitched.
The Sooners opened up the game with a strong first inning, taking a two-run lead early. Eric Ross hit a leadoff single, advanced to second on a ground out, stole third and was brought home by a Hunter Lockwood single to short stop.
Two at-bats later, Eric Mistich hit a solo home run to push the lead to two runs before the end of the first inning.
Oklahoma tagged on two more scores in the game, an RBI single in the top of the second and a sacrifice bunt in the top of the ninth to close out the game.
The Sooners will be back in action at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a two-game set against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, before heading to Portland, Oregon for the Nike Showcase.
