The Oklahoma baseball team has been selected to finish third and the OSU Cowboys sixth in the newly released Big 12 preseason baseball poll.
The votes of the league's head coaches was released Tuesday and the Texas A&M Aggies were the No. 1 team in the poll receiving eight first place votes and 64 overall points. Texas came in second with one first place vote and 56 overall points.
The Sooners in third garnered 48 points while Oklahoma State came in at No. 6 with 28.
Baylor and Missouri came in fourth and fifth in the poll in front of the Cowboys while Texas Tech was No. 7 followed by Kansas State and Kansas.
OU is also the no. 14 team in the national polls. The Sooners return 15 letterwinners and seven starters from the 2011 season.
OSU was 35-25 overall a year ago and earned an NCAA Regional berth for the sixth time in eight years.
The Sooners open the campaign this Friday in the first of three games against Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif. while Oklahoma State opens the season Friday at Cal Poly.
Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own team in the poll.
