You have to be brave to jump into White Water Bay in February. But on Saturday, folks with a big heart stripped down, or dressed in costumes, to take the polar plunge to help raise money for the Special Olympics of Oklahoma.
Organizers said many Oklahomans participate in this event every year.
"Once you get to know them, and you participate with them, it's just something you can't ever let go of. It's just a really rewarding experience," said Scott Gibbons with the Piedmont Police Department.
This is the 11th annual Polar Plunge. There will be eight more in February and March at different locations across the state.
Polar Plunge locations and dates:
Bartlesville - February 11
