A young mother found dead January 11 in a Midwest City home was pregnant with her third child when she was killed.

Neighbors called 911 when they saw Jessica McPherson-Brown's 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, dressed in pajamas, playing alone outside in the yard and the street. When officers arrived, the little boy told police "mommy is asleep."

Police went inside the house and found the 23-year-old woman had been shot to death.

During an autopsy, the State Medical Examiner confirmed McPherson-Brown was about six months pregnant.

Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said because McPherson-Brown was pregnant, police are treating the case as a double homicide. In Oklahoma, double murder charges can be filed against anyone who kills a pregnant woman at any stage of her pregnancy.

One thing police are still trying to determine is who fathered McPherson-Brown's baby.

McPherson-Brown was divorced and apparently had several confrontations with her ex-husband, Fabion Brown. Chief Clabes said in the past 10 months, police were called multiple times to Brown's home.

The day her body was found, McPherson-Brown was due in court for a divorce hearing.  A friend of Fabion Brown's claimed he could not have killed her because he was in court at the time.

McPherson-Brown's children are now in state custody.
