People across the metro and the country are remembering the message of equality and hope from slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. on the national holiday set aside to honor his legacy.
In Oklahoma City, the day of celebration began at 9 a.m. with an opening ceremony at the Freedom Center on N. MLK Boulevard, a silent march to the Oklahoma History Center, and a national bell ringing salute.
A holiday parade began at 2 p.m., starting at N.W. 7th Street and Robinson and ending on Broadway in Bricktown.
