Miss Oklahoma Named First Runner-Up In Miss America Pageant

News 9's Adrianna Iwasinski and Michael Konopasek are on hand for the 2012 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas.

Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson was selected as the first runner-up at the 2012 Miss America Pageant and was voted the People's Choice winner.

Laura Kaeppeler, 23, from Kenosha, Wisconsin, was crowned Miss America this year.

Another KWTV News 9 connection is host Chris Harrison, who worked for the News9 sports team back in the late 1990s. Also at the pageant are former Miss America and Miss Oklahoma Jane Jayroe, Susan Powell, Shawntel Smith, and Jennifer Berry.
