The Oklahoma State Cowgirl basketball team remains undefeated on the season after an 83-72 win over the Indiana Hoosiers Sunday afternoon.
A big performance by Liz Donohoe who totaled 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field helps the Cowgirls to a 5-0 mark on the year thus far.
Oklahoma State led for the start of the game, but midway through the first half the Hoosiers took the lead and led by as much as seven points.
The Cowgirls battled back and with less than two minutes left until halftime, Kendra Suttles came up with a block that led to a fastbreak layup by Toni Young to bring OSU within one point. Two more fast break buckets gave Oklahoma State a lead and at the break they held a 36-31 advantage over Indiana.
In the second the Cowgirls came out firing and put the game away quickly. In the first five minutes OSU went on a 14-2 run and they never looked back.
Donohoe's 23 points and three rebounds paced the scoring for the Cowgirls while Young added 15 points and six rebounds.
Aulani Sinclair led the Hoosiers with 23 points and Sasha Chaplin tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Cowgirls shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the three point line on the game. In addition they missed only one free throw—shooting 92.9 percent overall.
One big advantage for the Cowgirls all game was the points made in the paint. Oklahoma State scored a total of 34 points down low, with 19 of the teams points coming off second chance shots. Indiana made only 14 of their 72 points down low in the paint.
The Hoosiers finished shooting 36.8 percent from the floor and 40 percent from the three point line.
The 83-72 win in Indiana is the first road game of the season for Oklahoma State. This is the second year in a row Oklahoma State has begun the season undefeated. Last year they started 8-0.
The Cowgirls now return home to face Missouri State on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
