Police Investigate Body Found At Norman Police Department

Investigators are trying to figure out how a dead man ended up on the front steps of the Norman Police Department Monday night.

Someone came to the police department to pay a ticket and found the body lying on the steps around 7:30 p.m.

Police said nobody heard or saw anything. Police said it appeared the man shot himself in the head, went to the police station and died.

Police said there is no public safety concern, but the situation is certainly bizarre.

"It's a new situation. I think the most important thing to point out is the fact that we didn't feel like he was trying to get into the police department. It wasn't like he was storming in the police department, or anything like that." said Jennifer Newell with the Norman Police Department.

Authorities have not identified the man. They are currently reviewing surveillance videos.
