OKLAHOMA CITY -- During disasters like the wildfires in Oklahoma City this week, it's easy to forget about our four-legged friends. One Del City firefighter's find, however, shows emergency responders are here for everyone.
Near Sooner Road and Air Depot, Marty Harrison found a dog--or the dog found him. His fur was a little scorched, but the firefighter said saving the pooch was just part of the job.
"We do what we can to try to help out everybody, including our little four-legged friends also. We were out checking hot spots near 50th Street near Sooner Road and Air Depot, and this little dog comes running up to us. He looked pretty thirsty and it drank two bottles of water before we left the scene," Harrison said.
The dog had no tags, but Oklahoma City Animal picked him up, but not before he wolfed down the two bottles of water and a corn dog.
The animal shelter hopes to reunite pets found in the fire area with their owners as soon as possible. They will hold the animals for 30 days. Their phone number is 297-3100.
