The battalion chief said the men inside the home at S.W. 45th and Blackwelder gave them conflicting stories on how the fire started.
Firefighters had to work in shifts because of Saturday's intense heat.
"We're careful to get plenty of people on the scene and rotate our crews in and out so we try to spend a maximum of ten to 15 minutes working. Then we'll do a little rehab and then get back to work rotating the companies in and out," said Battalion Chief Chris Jackson.
The four men inside the home escape safely, but one began to hyperventilate and required medical treatment.
