EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A portion of I-35 which had been shut down due to wildfires is now open the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The road was closed for nearly five and a half hours as firefighters fought the wildfires.

The fires destroyed at least six homes and a dozen outbuildings.

The Red Cross and the City of Edmond have opened a family reunification center at 28 E. Main St. in Edmond as a resource for those affected by the on-going wildfires.

Officials said this is not a shelter, but an assessment center where a Red Cross representative will meet with individuals and families to help assess needs and provide support.
