Dale, OKLAHOMA -- A tropical vacation turned deadly for an Oklahoman vacationing in Hawaii.

"Apparently a driver trying to pass them struck a guardrail, bounced off of it and hit the back of their motorcycle. Now our Dale family and school is devastated," said Charlie Dickinson, Dale Schools Superintendent.

Twenty-five-year-old Kristen Widner was killed. Her husband, 27-year-old J.D. Widner is in critical condition in a Hawaii hospital.

Winder is a softball coach at Dale Junior High School. Instead of focusing on the upcoming season, teen athletes met to talk about the accident Friday.

"We are already such a close knit little community and everybody is so close. There are already people asking for prayers for his family and I think this will just bring everybody closer," said Raven Aguirre of Dale.

The Lady Pirates will have their first practice of the season Monday, without their beloved coach.
