IRVING, Texas—The 2011 Big 12 Football Preseason Poll results have been tallied and the Oklahoma Sooners have been chosen as the overwhelming favorite to win the conference title for the second year in a row.
The Sooners received 41 first place votes and 428 overall points in the poll that is voted on by media representatives who cover the conference.
Oklahoma State finished just two points from second place behind Texas A&M who received one first place vote and 362 total points while the Cowboys received one first place vote and 360 points.
Missouri (281 points) and Texas (265 points) rounded out the top five of the preseason poll.
The Sooners have been picked first in the South division nine times in previous media preseason polls and finished the season at the top in six of those years.
Oklahoma leads the Big 12 with seven Conference championships with titles won in 2000, '02, '04, '06, '07, '08 and '10.
