OKLAHOMA CITY -- A homeowner in northwest Oklahoma City shot at least two suspected home invaders late Wednesday night.
The incident began at 8:30 p.m. when the homeowner returned to his house in the 200 block of N.W. 87th Street to investigate a burglary alarm. When he arrived, he found three people burglarizing his house. The suspects ran away.
The homeowner says later that night around 10:30 p.m., the suspects returned. The homeowner pulled out his gun and started shooting.
At least two of the suspects were hit. One suspect collapsed near the house and another suspect was found two blocks away. The homeowner told police he may have hit the third suspect, as well. That person has not been caught.
Police were not sure if the suspects were inside or outside the residence when they were wounded, but they said it appeared the shooting was in self defense. The homeowner will not be arrested under Oklahoma's "Make My Day" law.
The suspects who were shot were taken to the hospital. They should recover from their wounds.
The homeowner was also taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pains.
