EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Water samples taken Friday from two Arcadia Lake beaches which had previously tested high for E. Coli bacteria have come back below regulated levels a spokesperson for the City of Edmond reports.
The city and the Army Corps of Engineers both received verbal confirmation of normal bacteria levels Saturday.
"We are glad levels are back to normal range," said Ashleigh Clark, Edmonds public information officer. "However, as a precaution, both beach swimming areas will remain closed until early next week. The city should receive the written report on Monday and further testing could take place until weather conditions change."
City and Corps officials will discuss the report early next week and decide when to reopen the swim areas.
Samples taken on June 29th had tested above safe levels for E. Coli, prompting the closure of the beaches at Arcadia Lake.
