OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Fire Department has confirmed one person died Thursday in a small plane crash at Sundance Airpark.

There was an emergency call just before 2 p.m. to the airport at 12820 N. Sara Road in Oklahoma City.  Emergency responders found an aircraft had gone down.

The only person on board was killed.  It was originally thought there were two people on board, but officials later learned there was just one person on the aircraft.

The victim's name has not been released.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig says the plane is a 1991 single-engine, fixed-wing Lancair.  FAA records show it was registered to someone in Lexington, Ky.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
