OKLAHOMA CITY -- I asked Monday night whether home builders here should be required to include storm shelter in their new homes.
Mixed reaction, starting with Rick in the Village: "Safety vs cost vs government intrusion."
But Genell from Shawnee writes: "A state tax credit for existing home owners would be a great incentive."
David in Prague: "We do not need another government mandate to legislate personal responsibility."
And Donald in Hennessey with this shot at me: "Keep thinking like that and soon you will be running for Congress."
Lisa in Noble: "The difference in a house payment over the years is a little change every month."
Craig a retired fire chief writes: "Such SAFE places should be as common as an indoor toilet."
Mary from El Reno lost her daughter in a tornado. She says: "Losing everything in a storm is devastating, but losing someone you love is truly losing everything."
Barb in Piedmont: "We had multiple families split between 2 shelters in Piedmont when the storm was headed our way."
Finally James in Bethany writes: "I'll just keep doing what I do in my $38,000 shack... Grab a lawn chair and sit on the patio."
